Emma Stroud, business woman, speaker, host, performer, writer and theatre director, was one of our recent studio users along with her co-creator, Maheen. On top of everything else, Emma is a comedy performer, creating sell-out shows for over 15 years. She prides herself on creating stories that provoke laughter and thought in every audience. We caught up with both Emma and Maheen to find out what they’ve been up to. If you want to find out more about Emma, like the variety of national business events she’s hosting including the European Women in Sales Awards at The Savoy Hotel, the European Women in Construction and Engineering Awards and the Business Women in Action National Conference – then visit this link!
Can you tell us a little bit about what you’ve worked on recently at the Copperdollar Studios?
We (Emma and co-creator, Maheen) were devising/ creating a theatre piece, a one character production that focuses on a woman and the journey that has been her life, from the loss of her father at a young age to the discovery that she is gay and then the birth of her son, all via starting businesses and training to be a clown.
How did you hear about the studios?
We found the studios through simply searching online, when we saw it, we knew it would work perfectly for what we wanted.
What do you like most about the Copperdollar Studios and what would you say makes it different from other studios you’ve used?
We really enjoyed the space – the Hayloft was a great size, really airy and light, too. It was also wonderfully close to the beach and to shops so if we needed a break and/ or a walk, it was easily – and beautifully – accomplished!
How did you get into your profession?
We both studied drama and the theatrical arts to degree level; we then ensured that our lives were always directed towards this love so as to ensure that we got to do it.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Bringing stories to an audience!
