Earlier this month, we were delighted to welcome Company Paradiso into the Copperdollar Studios. Company Paradiso is a charity which has over 10 years experience delivering successful inclusive arts projects with an impressive and award winning track record. Let’s find out what they were working on in the studios!
Can you tell us a little bit about what you’ve worked on recently at the Copperdollar Studios?
Company Paradiso visited Copperdollar Studios on 3 February 2018. We hired the studio to rehearse scenes for ‘Betrayed’ a new 15 minute short film.
How did you hear about the studios?
We found the studio through hirespace.com!
What do you like most about the Copperdollar Studios and what would you say makes it different from other studios you’ve used?
Copperdollar is in a great location with easy access via bus. The studio itself provides an ideal amount of space for rehearsing and is very atmospheric. The team at Copperdollar are very friendly and a pleasure to do business with.
We love that you help people to understand their own story and develop positive identity, how would you say our readers could work on this at home?
If I was to give anyone guidance to understand more about themselves and develop a positive identity, I would say to anyone, take some time to sit down with a pen and some paper, take some slow deep breaths and relax your muscles, close your eyes for 30 seconds, then open them and write down your thoughts, be creative. It doesn’t matter if it’s something about yourself or something fictional. Spend some time being creative. You may surprise yourself with what you write and be proud of your work!
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of what we do is seeing others find and develop skills they didn’t know they had. We have taken creative writing to youth offending teams, prisons, mental health groups, foster groups, homeless groups and many more, and each time we have seen such amazing transformations within people. It is very rewarding to see that!
Thank you to Jay Shurey, Audio/Visual Director, for answering our questions and a big thank you to the rest of the Company Paradiso team for using the space.
